Novel Molecular and Genetic Therapies for Inherited Arrhythmia Syndrome and Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathies
Description
Current treatments for inherited arrhythmias focus on medical therapy and cardiac implanted electronic devices. While they suppress arrhythmias and prevent fatal sequelae they do not address the fundamental underlying cause of the disease. While gene therapy has been a theoretical solution to fix the underlying cause of inherited arrhythmias, recent innovations are finally bringing these therapies closer to clinical care. This session will explore the different genetic therapies in development for a variety of disorders and how they will impact persons with inherited arrhythmias from a clinical and psychological standpoint.
